Orange-Ulster BOCES CTEC To Hold Spring Open House for Prospective Students

The Orange-Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) will host an Open House on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm (Snow date April 4, 6:00 to 9:00pm). The Open House will be held at the Career and Technical Education Center, 53 Gibson Road in Goshen and the CTEC Health Careers Academy located in Goshen at 227 Main Street.
Current students and staff will be on hand to showcase all of the programs CTEC has to offer high school students. Prospective students and their parents can see first-hand the programs in automotive, environmental, engineering, health care, culinary, fashion, graphic design, construction, cosmetology, education and business. Visitors will learn how CTE students integrate academics into their technical curriculum in order to meet their high school graduation requirements. Many CTEC Career Academies have been nationally accredited and feature the most recent trends in technology as well as instructors with the latest trade experience.
CTEC reinforces academics in traditional high schools by making reading, writing and math relevant in the context of actual professions. Especially in today's difficult career climate, it is critical for young people to be given options that enable them to continue on to post-secondary education as well as develop relevant workforce skills.
