Goshen HS Wins 2013 Orange County Mock Trial Tournament

The Mock Trial team from Goshen High School emerged the winner in the Finals showdown against the team from Monroe-Woodbury High School. Goshen will now advance to the Region IV Tournament to be held on April 27 in Dutchess County at Marist College.

The Orange County Mock Trial finals were held on April 9 in the Courtroom in the 1841 Courthouse in Goshen with the Honorable Jeffrey G. Berry presiding. Judge Berry was highly impressed with the performance of both teams and how they presented their arguments.

The Orange County Mock Trial Program, in which high school students play the parts of attorneys in local courtrooms, is sponsored by the Orange County Bar Association and Orange-Ulster BOCES. The county-wide Mock Trial Tournament is the first step in the New York State Mock Trial Tournament sponsored by the New York State Bar Association.

The Orange County Mock Trials is one of the many enrichment programs for districts coordinated by the OU BOCES Division of Instructional Support. The Orange County Bar Association provides judges to hear the cases presented by the students.
