About Integrating Schools and Mental Health Systems at Orange-Ulster BOCES

Orange-Ulster BOCES has received a two-year Federal grant, Integration of Schools and Mental Health Systems, granted to only seventeen organizations in the U.S., four of which are in New York.

The grant enables OU BOCES to work with its component school districts to assess current practices that exist for linking students with mental health services, streamlining the referral process, and providing training for school personnel and county service providers to build a more effective system for students and families. OU BOCES will also be working in a collaborative partnership with Orange County’s System of Care, which includes the county departments of Mental Health, Probation, Social Services and the Youth Bureau; along with Family Empowerment, United Way of Orange County, and the Mental Health Association to ensure better access to mental health services and supports.
