This service is designed to install local area networks (LANS) in individual school buildings and wide area networks (WANS) in school districts for instructional purposes. A participating district will receive the services of the BOCES technical staff, who will meet with the district representatives to establish the networking needs of the district. This will include a building survey to establish what resources presently exist and the development of a technology plan for the building- including the locations of servers and workstations, the exact location of cable entry into given rooms, and any modifications needed to the structure to facilitate the installation. BOCES technicians will also be responsible for the installation of the network including the purchase of necessary hardware and software, contracting for the pulling of cable, and staff training in the operation of the network.

This service may be used as a stand-alone option for a district or it may be used in conjunction with other technology applications such as Instructional Computer Service and Model Schools.
