On April 20, 2017 Orange-Ulster BOCES hosted the 4th Annual Transition Fair in collaboration with the Orange County Transition Council. Each year the fair provides resources and information about local options to parents and families of the special needs population. More than 24 agencies and community-based resources in Orange County participated as exhibitors this year.

We welcomed over 90 students, families, and professionals throughout the three-hour event.  Along with booths and table-top displays, there were several presenters who spoke in break-out sessions throughout the evening.  These included:  Joyce Hawk from the Hudson Valley Special Education Parent Center; Patricia Bassey from the SUNY Bridges Program; Andrew Maggio, speaker and autism advocate; Pam Wheatley from Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center; John W. Callanan Esq., Christina Maurillo LUTCF, CLU, ChFC, MBA and Leizer Gewirtzman, CPA, ChSNC, Special Care Planner who presented as a panel presenting on special needs planning, and Angel Drgan, Lisa Nathan, Priscilla Staley, Sandy Tomzack, Jarletta Baker, Lise Napolitano, and Tracy Maggio  who presented as part of a parent panel.

Guests were able to access valuable information pertaining to their individual family needs, ask questions to a variety of professionals and network with other families going through the process as well.
