blackboardThe Special Education Training and Resource Center at Orange Ulster BOCESis located at the Harriman Learning Center at 163 Harriman Heights Road, Monroe, New York. SETRC is a New York State network of trained educators designed to provide professional development, technical assistance and special education resources to local school districts, parents and community organizations.

The purpose of SETRC is to build the capacity of school districts and educators to support the achievement of students with disabilities. SETRC works with school districts based on the needs identified by the district and NYSED through its planning processes.

SETRC Services include the following:

  • Staff Development on topics related to Students with Disabilities: achievement, Special Education procedures and law, behavior/classroom management
  • Committee on Special Education (CSE) Member Training
  • Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) Member Training
  • Quality Improvement Plan(QIP) Facilitation
  • Transition services
  • IDEA
  • Inclusionary practices
  • Collaboratively identified topics for workshops in school districts
  • Web and paper resources related to NYS regulations, best practices, etc.
  • Research on Special Education topics as needed
  • Support to CSE Chairs in meeting SED State Performance Plan requirements
