2024 CTE Student Recognition Ceremony

OU BOCES CTE students shake hands with administrators on stage during their Recognition Ceremony

On June 20, 2024, the Orange-Ulster BOCES Division of Career and Technical Education (CTE), held its 57th annual Student Recognition Ceremony at Eisenhower Hall Theatre in West Point, New York. More than 800 students were honored for completing their various CTE programs. During their two years attending CTE programs, some students earned as many as 20 college credits to jump-start their post-secondary education. More than $30,000 in scholarships for outstanding performance and community service was also awarded to students during the evening ceremonies.

One of the highlights each year is the recognition of the Outstanding Student Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards. This year the Outstanding Student Gold Award, CTE’s highest honor, was presented to Jessica Wells from Pine Bush High School, a Law Enforcement student in the Emergency Services Academy. The Outstanding Student Silver Award recipient was Emma Pollock from Minisink Valley High School, an Allied Health student in the Health Careers Academy. The Outstanding Student Bronze Award recipient was Shawn Hansen from Cornwall Central High School, an Automotive Technology student in the Transportation Academy.

The 2024 CTE Valedictorian was Sophia Solimando, Minisink Valley Central School District. The Salutatorian was Emma Pollock, also from Minisink Valley Central School District. Both delivered words of inspiration and joy to their peers during the ceremony.
