Forty-seven Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) students traveled to Syracuse, N.Y., to participate in the New York State SkillsUSA competition held on April 25, 2024. The competition brought together the top CTE students from across the state to showcase their skills and compete in a variety of events.
Recognized for their strong leadership skills, one student was elected to a governing role for SkillsUSA for the upcoming year. Angelina Rodriguez (Florida UFSD) has been elected as a New York State SkillsUSA Officer.
During the day long competition, Orange-Ulster BOCES (OUB) had five students earn top honors in their fields: Culinary Quiz Bowl, Gold Medalists: Nariyah Nelson (Minisink Valley CSD), Genevieve Roldan (Middletown Enlarged City SD), and Lorelai Ellison (Valley Central), Early Childhood Education, Bronze Medalist: Jolie Anastos-Johnson (Monroe-Woodbury CSD), and Job Skills Demonstration Open, Culinary Bronze Medalist: Maya Maldonado (Pine Bush CSD).
