- Career & Technical Education
Fifty-six Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education students competed at the SkillsUSA New York Area 4 Regional competition held over the past two weeks at various locations. Twenty-one students received a gold, silver or bronze medal in their area of expertise. The SkillsUSA competition is a prestigious technical and leadership contest where career and technical education students demonstrate their expertise in various trade, technical, and leadership fields nationwide.
"I couldn't be more proud of our students for their contributions, dedication, and efforts throughout the competition,” Principal Eugene Hewitt said. “They represented themselves, their programs, and Orange-Ulster BOCES in the finest light. They should be extremely proud of themselves, as we all are of them."

“This is a significantly exciting time in the lives of our students, their families and for our organization as whole,” Director Kathleen Smith shared. “Students having the ability to compete at this level and advance to the state competition is surely an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives. Our students' success is a testament not only to their personal drive and motivation but also to our staff and their commitment to excellence.”
The first-place winners will advance to the state competition, scheduled for April 23-25 at the Syracuse State Fairground.
