2025 Orange-Ulster BOCES Regional Spelling Bee

2025 Spelling Bee Winner

Orange-Ulster BOCES held its annual spelling bee on March 13, 2025. Cora Massaro, an eighth grader who attends C.J. Hooker Middle School in the Goshen School District, became the first place winner of this year’s spelling bee, which is sponsored by the Orange County School Boards Association and the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

As a result of winning the Orange-Ulster BOCES Regional Spelling Bee, Cora will represent Orange County and compete on the national level at the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in the Washington, D.C. area from May 25 through May 31, 2025. Cora will also receive subscriptions to Britannica Online and Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary as well as the Samuel Louis Sugarman Award.

Amaan Ali, an eighth grader from Minisink Valley Middle School in the Minisink Valley School District, finished in second place. Miles Kessler, a seventh grader from Meadow Hill Global Academy in the Newburgh School District, finished in third place.
