Maureen Doherty

Maureen has over 30 years of experience in industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety ranging from the military, industry and public-school educational settings. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration graduating Magna Cum Laude and an Associate in Applied Science focused on Bioenvironmental Engineering Technology.
Maureen maintains extensive certifications including but not limited to a certified NYS Code Enforcement Official, EPA Certified Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector, NYS Certified Mold Assessor, NYS Certified Asbestos Management Planner/Building Inspector/Supervisor and she is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor. Maureen is also the lead trainer working with the New York State Department of Health, New York State Department of Labor and the Environmental Protection Agency developing curriculum and classes for Asbestos and Lead initials and recertifications.
Maureen provides leadership, training, knowledge, policy development and consultation services to our Orange-Ulster BOCES community and our school districts. Maureen’s has a true passion to help and is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for both learning and working.

Duane is a performance-driven law enforcement career professional. Duane retired in 2019 at the rank of Captain-Special Services after 20 years of service to our community and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 258.
Duane has extensive operational experience and specializes in School Safety, Incident Management and Operational Planning. He holds several certifications including A.L.E.R.R.T - Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Instructor, C.R.A.S.E - Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Instructor and DCJS Master Instructor.
Over the span of his career, he has developed curriculum, lectured, and trained law enforcement, military and civilians in prevention, response, and recovery from an active shooter / hostile event. He has traveled the nation as a law enforcement instructor and is a recognized subject matter expert.
Duane started with Orange-Ulster BOCES in 2021 as an Emergency Planning Technician to assist with school district health and safety initiatives. These initiatives include; review and development of District and Building School Safety and Response Plans, Special Event Safety / Operational Plans, NYS S.H.E.L.L Protocol Training, C.R.A.S.E Training, and Site Security Assessments.
Mikayla has a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology and an Associate in Applied Science focusing on Behavioral Sciences.
Mikayla is our newest member of the Health and Safety Team. She brings a great deal of experience from her internship with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation where she studied the effects of PFOS/PFOA, compounds of the chemical group per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on the environment and animals.
Mikayla’s previous employment in the hospitality industry has proven valuable for the exposure to emergency management of incidents and customer relations.
Mikayla love for the environment, marine life and animals translates perfectly to the care she has for the educational environments.
Her fresh outlook, knowledge and organization is just what is needed for the area school districts and the Orange-Ulster BOCES community.
