Welcome to the division of adult career education  

BOCES Adult Educational Services offers comprehensive technical and vocational programs.  Courses are designed for those who seek to enter an occupation or desire to upgrade skills in their present occupation.  This program accepts adults, recent high school graduates and non-completers who have been out of school for six months or more. Course curriculum is industry-specific and emphasizes practical application of key concepts and skills in well equipped labs providing real world experiences. Many programs offer payment plans and for eligible people funding may be available.  Investigate possible funding opportunities available at one of the mandatory orientations.

Technical and Vocational Programs

Adult Literacy

High School Equivalency - Adults:  Free academic classes are available to individuals 21 years of age or older who are without a high school diploma and who need to prepare for the GED exam.  Career counseling, transition to career and technical education or college and the skills to successfully gain employment are embedded in each class.

English as a Second Language

Free classes are available for those foreign language students who need help speaking and writing English or just need to improve their skills. ESL students have access to all of the support services available, such as job search, financial literacy classes, health and wellness classes and a wide array of cultural activities to help students acclimate to the American experience.

Orange-Ulster BOCES employs case managers to assist students pursuing personal, educational and employment goals. Staff meet with employers regularly to ensure that services offered match with local employment needs. Support staff will work with students who need financial counselling. ​​​​​​


Courses are offered in Goshen at the Arden Hill Regional Education Center and the Career & Technical Education Center, as well as at 3 Washington Center in Newburgh. All locations provide career and technical education programs that are affordable, short-term and convenient for the adult learner.
