The Middletown City School District is hosting the seventh annual Special Olympics Orange County Elementary Competition on April 13, 2024, at Presidential Park Elementary School. 2024 Special Olympics
On Saturday, April 13, 19 OUB student-athletes participated in the 8th Annual Orange County Elementary Special Olympics hosted by the Middletown City School District. Athletes participated in basketball and soccer events throughout the day with many earning medals or ribbons. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated coaches and volunteers, a great day was had by all. Congratulations to all of our athletes!
2023 Special Olympics
Congratulations to the Orange-Ulster BOCES student-athletes who participated in the Orange County Elementary Special Olympics on June 3 at Presidential Park Elementary School in Middletown.
The 17 BOCES students competed against teams from Chester, Marlboro, Middletown, Monroe-Woodbury, Valley Central, Warwick and Washingtonville. The athletes demonstrated their skills in soccer dribbling and shooting as well as passing, dribbling and shooting a basketball.
The event featured an opening ceremony, competition and closing awards ceremony. Our students came home with many medals and ribbons.
“We are immensely proud of each and every student-athlete who represented Orange-Ulster BOCES with great enthusiasm and spirit,” said Keith Sullivan, Assistant Director of Alternative and Special Education at OU BOCES. “Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork truly paid off, resulting in countless personal bests and cherished memories.”
Special thanks to the Enlarged City School District of Middletown for organizing this unforgettable event and to the OU BOCES coaches and volunteers.
2022 Special Olympics
The 2022 Orange County Special Olympics were held at Valley Central High School. Players from all over Orange County participated in basketball and soccer activities. OU BOCES had eight students, from three different programs participate: Eric B. (LEP), Francesca B.(LEP) , Unique E.(RCC), Iyana G.(RCC), Alia M.(RCC), Caiden M.(MH), Lawrence M.(RCC), and Eddie P.(RCC).
Students were challenged with three basketball skills: passing, shooting, and dribbling skills and three soccer skills: goal shot, dribbling skills and kicking multiple goals. Players had so much fun participating in all these great activities.
A special thank you to Valley Central school district and all coaches, volunteers and families who made this day possible. We hope to see you all at Middletown School District next year.
