Special Olympics

We are proud to recognize the Orange-Ulster BOCES student-athletes who participated in the Hudson Valley Special Olympics on April 26, 2026 at West Point Military Academy.

In all, 29 OUB students competed alongside teams from across the Hudson Valley, showcasing their skills in a variety of track and field events, including javelin and wheelchair obstacle courses. Their determination, sportsmanship, and talent were evident throughout the day.

The event featured a memorable opening ceremony, highlighted by the lighting of the torch and the presentation of competition awards. Our athletes achieved outstanding success, earning numerous medals and ribbons. Liam Jordan, representing the Minisink satellite program, competed in running events and had the honor of participating in the torch-lighting ceremony.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated coaches and volunteers whose hard work made this event possible, as well as to the families whose continued support helped create such a meaningful and memorable experience for our students.

Special Olympics New York serves more than 3,600 athletes in the Hudson Valley region, including Orange County, providing year-round sports training and competition.
